Let's just say that for the last two days I've tried to toy with this thing like 7 or more times, yet the total time I spent on it is probably less than 3 hours... Honestly I don't know how did they make that kind of a mess out of the old UI. There are some good things about the new UI as well, but they are DEFINITELY overshadowed by the bad sides (for me at least)...
Let's begin with the keymap(shortcuts). What was the problem with including a classic shortcuts set - I do not honestly now. Next comes the spacebar menu... From a very, very, VERY F***ING damn fast shortcut to the functions that I use mostly (along with the specials menu, which is, thank god, unchanged), it has become little more than useless for me (one exception - the search function is there, however that HARDLY makes up for the lost). The shift+a menu for new objects is still there... With all the other things lost, however... @@!&#$^&$%.
Moving on to the new theme - I'm using an old 17'' CRT. Main reason - I can get 120hz/100hz for gaming on resp. 800x600/1024/768. Also doesn't lag like the LCDs do, higher contrast, not willing to invest $400 into a decent high-rez LCD (still no 100hz), that kind of stuff...
At 1024x768 when tinkering with the object buttons in 2.49a (and previous) I could see ALL the buttons at once, except when I switched to edit mode I think and even the I still had like 70% of them in view. Honestly I don't care about how flashy the interface is when it's pretty damn fast and functional... I guess that just had to change. Same thing is with basically any other tab. Also had to adjust the colors for a little bit but that's not the big issue there...
Ok guess that's enough whining for now
